How we started...
Our nursery, 'Secret Orchard Produce', is located in Hesketh Bank, a small horticultural village in West Lancashire. The nursery has been in our family’s ownership since the 1930's and was previously used for the growing of tomatoes in greenhouses. It was working with the tomatoes from an early age that my understanding of plants began to grow. Farming of course is also very challenging and back breaking work. It is from this that I believe my determined and hard working character developed. Unfortunately the former business from where I first developed my love for growing and horticulture declined due to the proliferation of cheap imported produce.
'As the viability of comercial agricultural was shrinking we took to the internet to grow our dreams'
My partner and I took over the management of my family’s nursery business almost six years ago and the company has already progressed to be a greater success story than we had ever imagined. With emphasis on quality and value we now supply garden plants and bulbs via the internet. We are currently working to increase our range to include a much wider variety of gardening related items and soon hope to be able to bring a complete garden centre into the convienience of your own home. We take great pleasure in pleasing our customers by offering a quality of service equalled only be the quality of our products.

'Planning for the future'

Originally an officers mess during WW2, our old packing shed that served us well for many many years had fallen into a sorry state of disrepair. A beautiful wooden building oozing with rustic character as it bent and twisted under its own unforgiving age. I really wish I could have saved it but unfortunately the challenge became too much and for safety reasons we had to pull it down.
We are now well under way with the building of our new replacement packing shed. It is in this new building that we will integrate the latest computer technology required for online service with the latest in automated climate control needed to keep our products in the finest of conditions.
